Drive Alive: A Public Service Program to Teach Teens Safe Driving Habits

Educating Teens in Palm Bay, Melbourne, Vero Beach and surrounding areas

All too frequently the tragic and often preventable accidents that take the lives of young drivers and teenagers make headline news in our local communities. Traffic accidents are the leading cause of death for teens and account for more than one of every three deaths with almost 5,000 fatalities each year. When you break that number down, it is equal to 12 teens dying every day. That number is staggering when you think about the fact that almost all of these accidents could have been prevented. Florida in particular is a dangerous place to learn to drive. With the high population and ever-increasing number of vehicles on the road, the likelihood of an accident is all too common. Learning to drive is a rite of passage for almost all teenagers, and it’s one that teens need to take responsibly. Once they are driving alone, anything can happen, and teens need to be equipped with the knowledge to be alert and responsible while behind the wheel, as well as know what to do in case something does go wrong.

Drive Alive is a public safety program brought to you by the law firm of Alpizar Law and is headed by attorney David Alpizar. The program was created to develop and spread awareness about safe driving. Drive Alive is not a replacement, but a supplement to traditional driver’s education programs. As an extracurricular activity, driver’s education in local high schools can often be one of the first programs cut as school districts try to reduce spending, but it is important that our teens receive the materials and training they need to learn how to drive safely.

As parents, drivers, teens, students or community members, we all need to do our part to drive safely, to teach our teens to drive safely, and to drive alive. To drive alive is to arrive alive. Our attorneys are available to speak to driver’s education classes – or any type of school class – as they relate to safe driving, prom and homecoming season safety, and all types of educational programs.
